Who we are

Power Technology Engineered Solutions Pty Ltd is an independent, Australian, family-owned engineering company. We are a highly motivated and experienced team with technical core competencies in: Distributed energy systems functional & control design, power systems engineering, control engineering, embedded software design, communications engineering, electrical design, system integration engineering, commissioning and field services.

PowerTec has established a network of tier-1 supply partners for its IoT system platform, inverters and batteries, and operates with solar and electrical installation project partners. We also maintain development partnerships with industry and academia.

We use an Integrated Management System according to ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015, AS/NZS4801:2001 and OHSAS18001:2007. We strive to provide systems & services that are fast, smart, interconnected, and tailored to individual customer needs. We work in a collaborative manner and improve together with our customers. This is reflected in our Quality Policy, OH&S Policy and Environmental Policy.

Dr Michael R JansenDr. Michael R Jansen

Power Technolgy Engineered Solutions managing director and principle engineer, Dr Michael R Jansen, has 15 years of experience leading engineering business entities at power generation and process industry solution providers during assignments in Europe, Asia and Australia. He has worked over 26 years in total in control and power converter systems engineering. Michael has been pivotal in developing and implementing innovative projects, piloting new electrical and control solutions for various multinationals. Before starting up PowerTec, he worked as Business Unit Manager, Power Generation, at ABB Australia, where he also headed the global Centre of Competence "Microgrids and Renewable Energy Integration", and as Business Director - Industry - Asia, at Converteam.
He holds a doctoral degree in Control Engineering from the University of Duisburg, Germany.


Adam SchmidtAdam Schmidt

Adam is PowerTec's project director. He has over 22 years of experience working in the critical power industry with Piller Power Systems and in engineering consulting with Aurecon. His areas of expertise include large UPS and inverter systems, critical power design, reliability analysis and project management. Adam has a solid track record in project delivery. Dermott Sullivan

Dermott works as network and communications project engineer in battery energy storage and distributed control system projects. His responsibilities include:

Dermott studied at RMIT University and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Computer & Network)


Craig McFarlane

Craig has over 30 years of software engineering experience in turn-key and custom applications on platforms ranging from bare-bone boards to embedded Linux to workstation UNIX. He holds a B.App.Sc. from Monash University. He has worked on projects in embedded systems, mobile applications, billing applications, communications and aerospace/military.

Since joining PowerTec he has been providing technical direction for software-related projects and the implementation of PaDECS.


Apolinar Magtanong

Apolinar has over 12 years of relevant experience in power and control systems engineering and field services. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines. Since joining PowerTec, he has been working as a Power Electronics, Control and Communications Field Engineer.
